Super High-Carb Sport Drink Mix is designed to solve a prevalent problem for endurance athletes: fueling for big days of training or racing when preparing or carrying real food isn’t possible. Super High-Carb is powered by Cluster Dextrin™, a highly-complex carbohydrate that digests easily and steadily, like real food. One serving of Super High-Carb provides 100g of carbohydrates and 400 calories of energy.

Great for:

  • Preload
  • During activity

7 scoops = 100g carbs, 400 calories
1 scoop = 15g carbs, ~57 calories

As a starting point, add 4 to 7 scoops to an empty 16–20 fl oz bottle, partially fill with water, shake well, then top off with more water. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes if you want it ultra-smooth. Adjust scoop count based on your energy needs and how concentrated you want your bottle.

frequently asked questions

It’s built for big efforts when eating solid food gets tricky. Each serving delivers 100g of fast-absorbing carbs and 400 calories, so you can fuel long sessions or races with fewer bottles, fewer bars, and fewer GI issues. Think of it as food, in liquid form, for when you're working hard and need to keep moving.

We combine glucose and fructose in a 1:0.8 ratio to help your body absorb more carbs per hour, up to 100g, by using multiple transport pathways. That means more usable energy, less gut overload, and fewer bonks on big days.

Cluster Dextrin is a high-performance carbohydrate used in our Super High-Carb Drink Mix to deliver a lot of energy without wrecking your gut.

It’s a big, complex carb that breaks down slowly and evenly—kind of like a bus carrying tons of fuel in one smooth ride. Compare that to regular sugar, which is like a bunch of tiny cars. If you pack too many in at once, you get a traffic jam (aka GI distress).

Why it’s better: Cluster Dextrin gives you more calories per molecule, which means lower concentration in your gut and faster water absorption. That’s key for staying hydrated and fueled without bloating or stomach issues—especially during hard efforts or long days.

It depends on your effort, intensity, and what else you're eating or drinking. Start by replacing about half the calories you burn per hour (that’s usually 200–400 calories for most athletes). One 53g pouch = 200 calories. Two = 400. Not sure? Start with 1 to 1.5 pouches or 3-5 scoops in 16 oz of water and tweak from there.

Yep! The flexibility of the pouch format lets you go higher or lower depending on your fueling needs. You can adjust scoops to your need, 1 scoop = ~57 Calories and 15g Carb. For 200 Calorie / 50g Carb serving, that’s 3.5 scoops, 400 Calorie / 100g Carb, that's 7 scoops, you get the idea. For the packets you can mix 1, 1.5, or even 2 pouches into one bottle. Just make sure the fluid-to-carb ratio works for your gut, your sweat rate, effort and conditions.

If you're used to scooping from the big bag, here's the math:

  • 1 pouch = 3.5 scoops = 200 calories = 190mg sodium
  • 2 pouches or 7 scoops = 400 calories = 380mg sodium

You can always adjust up or down based on your caloric or sodium needs.

Sometimes. One serving of Super High-Carb has the same electrolytes as a serving of Sport Drink Mix, but way more fuel. That’s great when you need lots of calories in less fluid—like cooler days or long races where solid food is tough. But hydration and fueling aren’t always synced. On hot days, you might sweat more than one bottle can replace, even if your calories are covered. That’s where an extra bottle of Sport Drink Mix or plain water + Electrolyte Booster comes in.

Think of it this way:
Super High-Carb = a big hammer with less fluid.
Sport Drink Mix = a smaller hammer with more fluid.

Both are tools. Which one (or combo) you use depends on your effort, sweat rate, and gut. You can mix them together in one bottle, but do the math to hit your carb, sodium, and fluid targets—and test it in training to keep your gut happy. Still unsure? We’re here: [email protected].

Good eye. The portable pouch is 53g (200 calories), while the scoopable bag serving is 105g (400 calories). We designed the pouch for easier testing, flexibility, and portability. It’s a lot easier to bring one or two with you than lugging a scale or bag mid-race, or a packet that is more than you want.

Not if you match the calories to your needs, avoid chugging, and hydrate properly. We built this to go down smooth, with no artificial nonsense and a science-backed carb that’s easier to absorb. Start slow, practice during training, and don’t chug 400 calories all at once without sipping steadily. Your gut will thank you.

“Super High Carb drink mix has been my go-to source of fuel during this training block. At full strength, having 100g CHO in each bottle has made hitting 100 grams of carbs/hr feel relatively easy during longer efforts. I’ve found that consistently fueling at 100 grams of carbs/hr has had positive effects all around — less fatigue during the run and faster recovery after.”

Not what I expected

I usually go with Tailwind, but most races here use Scratch at aids so I tried it out. The flavor isn’t bad, but I could see me getting turned off by it over time. Maybe not so much fully from flavor but also mouth feel. It’s got a slight viscosity to it. But my biggest gripe is the efforts to get it to mix without clumping. If I’m on the move and refill with a single serve packet and a soft flask of water, it just won’t mix up and will clog your straw. Not for me but thank you.

This is the perfect carb mix—a game changer for my running

The highly branched cyclic dextrin (google HBCD or cluster dextrin, see photo) is a scientifically proven superior carb to maltodextrin, glucose, and fructose, and is very effective. You can actually feel the difference running with and without this fuel. You may not need 5-7 scoops for every run or cycle, 3 to 3.5 scoops works great for your typical workout. But if you’re running tempo or threshold, going 15 miles, running trail and ascending 1500ft or more, 7 scoops will surprise you with the energy it delivers. With the HBCD this is the best carb mix on the market.

What a difference!

Tried the super high carb for my two biggest gravel events of the year. What a game changer! Personal best times at both events and I didn't feel wiped out for days after.

This is my absolute favorite high carb drink. The taste is very mild, hardly sweet at all, which is really important for me being able to take down over long efforts. Most high carb mixes border on cloying, by mile 15 I just don't want anymore. This is an even close. If you mix it the night before and put it in the fridge it gets so smooth that you can barely taste it, it's basically just water. Which is amazing! I think this mixes the absolute easiest way to get in the carbs and calories. I just wish it were a little bit cheaper.

perfect for long runs

Sometimes it's hard for me to consume solid calories during hard, long efforts, and this mix is the perfect solution. I like the lemon-lime flavor - it's not too sweet like some other brands I've tried.
